Job Overview – Accounting Specialist – 33534

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist whose primary responsibilities include managing accounts payable and performing bank reconciliations. The ideal candidate will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, streamline payment processes, and maintain strong vendor relationships. This role is vital to the smooth financial operations of our organization and will work closely with the accounting team to support month-end closings and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable Management:


  • Process and verify invoices, expense reports, and payment requests in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with vendors to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate payment records.
  • Maintain up-to-date vendor files and manage communications regarding payment statuses.


Bank Reconciliations:


  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to verify accuracy between company records and bank statements.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Document reconciliation processes and findings to support audits and financial reviews.


Financial Recordkeeping & Reporting:


  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for financial audits.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to enhance internal controls and improve processes.


General Support:


  • Utilize accounting software and maintain accurate data entry and filing systems.
  • Provide support to the broader finance team as needed.


Requirements

Education & Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in accounts payable and bank reconciliations is highly desirable.


Skills & Competencies:


  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial documentation.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and external partners.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze financial discrepancies and implement solutions.


Sherpa Benefits

  • Must be a full-time employee (30 weekly hours/ 130 hours per month) to be eligible
