Job Summary
Sherwood Assisted Living is looking for a Director of Nursing (DON). The successful candidate must be a Registered Nurse (RN). The DON will hold a crucial leadership role in overseeing the nursing department and ensuring that high-quality patient care is delivered consistently. This position requires a strong understanding of nursing practices, regulations and standards of care in the assisted living setting. The DON will be responsible for developing and implementing care plans, managing nursing staff, and ensuring compliance with resident rights and regulatory requirements while working alongside our Care Manager.
Duties
- Oversee daily operations of the nursing department to ensure quality patient care.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for residents.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding resident rights and nursing practices.
- Lead and mentor nursing staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Conduct regular documentation reviews to maintain accurate patient records.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and Care Manager to enhance resident care outcomes.
- Address any concerns or issues related to patient care promptly and effectively.
- Work two floor nurse shifts each week.

- Strong knowledge of assisted living and memory care.
- Proven leadership abilities with experience in nursing administration.
- In-depth understanding of resident rights and advocacy.
- Solid foundation in anatomy knowledge relevant to patient care.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with staff, residents, and families.
- Ability to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to individual resident needs.
- Nurse delegation certification or the ability to promptly obtain nurse delegation certification highly desired.
