This opportunity is located at Sherwood Pines RCF in Veneta, Oregon. Veneta is just a short 15-20 minute drive from west Eugene. Sherwood Pines is a 16-bed memory care facility. Preference will be given to the applicant who is also willing to work as a caregiver on the weekend or assist in various positions such as a shower aide or activities assistant. The bath aide position hours are 7am - 3pm. These hours have been selected specifically to maximize the benefit of having a 3rd caregiver on staff on the corresponding day shifts. The bath aide’s primary responsibility is to assist residents with bathing / showering on their scheduled bath days 2x / week and additionally as needed. A complete shower will be provided for the resident, including hair washing and drying.
During the resident’s shower, the bath aide will do a visual skin check on all body areas and make a note of any areas of redness, rash, injury, or other skin anomalies. This visual inspection will include all skin folds around stomach, beneath breasts, and groin area. Lotion is applied to trunk and extremities after each shower. The bath aide will provide nail care for the residents which includes cleaning, trimming, and filing fingernails and toenails as needed. Diabetic nail care and nail care that is needed beyond basic trimming and filing needs to be charted and admin notified to arrange podiatric care.
Once a week on alternating bath days, the resident’s bed linens will be stripped & replaced with fresh linens. As well as replacing the bedding, the bath aide will also dust surfaces, remove garbage, tidy up, and sweep / mop the resident’s room. At the end of shift, the bath aide is to sanitize the shower room thoroughly, secure all personal hygiene items in a locked area, and chart all showers & other ADL assistance provided during shift.
Responsibilities :
- Must be able to pass a background check and complete preservice dementia, preservice infection prevention, and caregiver training.
- Treat all community members with respect, dignity, and compassion.
- Support and perform care as specified in the community member service plan.
- Assure community members are accounted for.
- Observe community members for changes in condition and report any significant changes.
- Respond to emergency situations according to current policies and procedures.
- Completed incident reports per policy on assigned shift.
- Tidy community members’ rooms and other common areas around the facility.
- Change linens and remove garbage.
- Complete laundry and ensure it is delivered back to the room in a timely manner.
- Transfer and escort community members following care plans and safe practices.
- Document care provided.
- Read and contribute to shifting reports and care notes to ensure continuity of care.
- Report to the Administrator any signs of community member abuse or witnessed misappropriation.
- Have a neat and clean appearance and adhere to the dress code as policy indicates.
- Perform other duties as assigned or delegated by the nurse verbally or in writing.
Salary : $18 - $24
