The Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of an asphalt production facility, ensuring the proper mixing and supply of asphalt materials to meet project requirements.
This role is classified as safety sensitive.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment
- Plant Operations: Operate and monitor asphalt plant equipment to ensure proper production and quality of asphalt materials.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance on plant equipment, ensuring all components function efficiently. Identify and report mechanical issues for timely repairs.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all company and regulatory safety procedures, including proper handling of materials and equipment. Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.
- Quality Control: Monitor material specifications, temperature, and mix design to meet required standards. Conduct routine checks and adjustments to maintain product consistency.
- Inventory & Material Management: Oversee raw material levels, ensuring adequate stock for continuous operations. Coordinate with suppliers for material deliveries as needed.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate daily logs of plant operations, production quantities, material usage, and any maintenance activities.
- Communication & Coordination: Work closely with supervisors, truck drivers, and paving crews to ensure timely and efficient asphalt delivery
Required Skills/Abilities/Experience:
- Previous experience operating an asphalt plant or similar heavy equipment is preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements
- Functions essential to this position include but are not limited to standing, sitting, stooping, bending, walking and lifting heavy objects (50 pounds) during the course of the work day
