Position Details

Job Summary :

The Systems and Intervention Coach is responsible for coaching, supporting and implementing MTSS

and EWIMS systems within the SRESD as well as throughout Shiawassee County local districts. The

Systems and Intervention Coach is responsible for providing guidance, support, coaching, and / or

intervention implementation to local schools and districts identified by the state as targeted (TSI),

additional targeted (ATS), or comprehensive support (CSI) schools.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current Michigan School Administrator Certificate preferred.
  • Three or more years of classroom experience teaching at the secondary level under a

Michigan Teaching Certificate

  • Expertise with creating MTSS and EWIMS systems.
  • Experience with creating and conducting professional learning activities.
  • Leadership experience and / or working with educators in professional learning
  • communities.

    General Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate needed technical assistance, professional learning, and ongoing coaching to
  • district / school leadership teams and staff for successful implementation of MTSS

    framework components, EWIMS systems at the secondary level, and use of

    evidence-based practices.

  • Coach, implement, and monitor support and services to schools and districts identified
  • by the state as targeted (TSI), additional targeted (ATS), or comprehensive support (CSI)

    schools.

  • Identify, implement, and monitor evidence-based practices for effective implementation
  • and rapid-turnaround.

  • Recommend and / or provide intervention support for students in the areas of academic,
  • behavioral, and social emotional supports or interventions or systems.

  • Promote and facilitate the use of data for decision-making at the classroom, building, &
  • district levels.

  • Support and facilitate data analysis in identifying causal theories and root cause, to
  • identify evidence-based strategies and activities that strengthen student growth and

    achievement.

  • Work collaboratively with various groups and provide leadership to gain consensus
  • related to problem solving.

  • Provide tools and resources to support evidence-based instruction / intervention practices
  • to ensure high student achievement and to promote a positive school climate.

  • Coach classroom teachers in effective practices and provide pertinent feedback.
  • Help improve instruction by engaging teachers and promoting a school-wide professional
  • learning community

  • Organize, plan and conduct professional learning, facilitation, consultation, and training
  • resources for the SRESD and local school / district teachers and administrators with the

    implementation of systems supporting MTSS, academics, attendance, behavior, and

    social emotional.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with the implementation of MTSS and EWIMS system(s) at the secondary
  • level.

  • Ability to deepen knowledge and develop capacity necessary to support regional and
  • district School Improvement and MTSS implementation.

  • Fluency with the measures, reports, and data systems.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and generate meaningful reports based on system level data.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Assessment including Universal Screeners, Outcome
  • Data, Progress Monitoring and Behavior Systems.

  • Knowledge of research related to Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports from
  • School-wide PBIS to Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Support

    Planning.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to make presentations and conduct trainings.
  • Experience analyzing state and local data at both the system and student level for
  • instructional purposes.

  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Ability to travel to and from the regional education service district and the constituent
  • school districts in the service area as well as to state level meetings.

  • Ability to work a flexible workday / week.
  • A minimum of three years of successful
