SUMMARY
SHIELD is a Kansas City based manufacturer who designs and builds products for the world’s best sports and healthcare brands. Our lockers are chosen by the top NBA, NFL, NCAA teams and our innovative healthcare products help the best doctors and nurses serve their patients in modern, clean environments at many of the most nationally recognized health care facilities in the United States.
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Installer I will travel on-site to locations coast-to-coast to bring our project to life for a variety of clients (professional & collegiate sports, healthcare locations, etc.) to completion. This position has an expected rate of travel of 20 days per month, this travel may be on short notice or may change due to project needs. This position is based out of the Kansas City, Missouri facility, and when the install team is not traveling, they will work in the production shop.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS may include but are not limited to:
- Utilize basic fabrication and carpentry skills to assist senior level installers in a high quality, efficient, and cost effective installation experience for our customers and the Shield team
- Work with the designated Install team lead and Shield Production team members to resolve issues and questions as they arise
- Maintain a positive attitude and help the team find solutions even when faced with stressful situations and challenging people
- Submit time sheets, PTO requests, expense reports, and all other necessary forms and communication on time and accurately
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Ability to take direction and perform day-to-day tasks with a strong focus on problem solving
- Ability to successfully execute projects on tight deadlines and to perform at high levels in a fast paced and ever-changing work environment
- Can work independently, while still asking questions and for advice from other team members when needed
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Reliable in attendance, quality, and communication
- Must own basic tools and have an entry level ability to use various hand and power tools
- Developing fabrication and carpentry skills
- Developing knowledge of reading and interpreting blueprints or shop drawings
- Basic written and verbal communication skills within the Shield team
- Ability to pass project specific background checks as needed
- Flexibility and willingness to travel with short notice and work various shifts (days, nights, weekends)
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Entry level familiarity with fabrication and carpentry skills and concepts (0-1 years experience)
- Casework, furniture or cabinet building experience preferred
- Any OSHA certifications, specialty certifications, approvals, or other documentation that allows the employee to travel and work on site in a variety of locations are encouraged
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, or crawl
- The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
- Employee must be able to talk and hear

While performing the duties of this job, employees may be exposed to hot and/or cold conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. This is an hourly (non-exempt) position. Shield offers a full benefit package including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance along with Short and Long Term Disability, and Life Insurance.
