Job Summary
A Shield Environmental Services Remediation and Abatement Technician is responsible for identifying, assessing, and removing environmental contaminants like mold, asbestos, lead, or hazardous waste from various locations, including residential properties, commercial buildings, and industrial sites. The technician uses specialized equipment and techniques to clean up areas safely while adhering to all relevant regulations and safety protocols.
Key responsibilities:
· Site assessment: Conduct thorough inspections to identify the presence and extent of contamination.
· Contaminant removal: Utilize appropriate methods and personal protective equipment (PPE) to safely remove contaminated materials, including demolition, encapsulation, and abatement procedures.
· Cleaning and decontamination: Clean affected areas using specialized cleaning solutions and equipment to remove contaminants.
· Waste disposal: Properly package and dispose of hazardous waste according to local regulations.
· Client communication: Explain remediation procedures to clients, address concerns, and provide updates on project progress.
Required skills and qualifications:
· Technical knowledge: Understanding of environmental contaminants, their health risks, and appropriate remediation methods.
· Physical ability: Capability to perform physically demanding tasks like lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.
· Attention to detail: Ability to accurately identify and treat contamination areas while following precise procedures.
· Safety training: Proficiency in proper PPE usage and safety procedures related to hazardous materials. OSHA 10 certified.
· Compliance training: Maintaining necessary credentials and certifications in a timely manner to remain within state guidelines for hazardous materials.
· Communication skills: Clear communication with project managers and other team members regarding remediation progress and potential issues.Licenses/Certifications
Required: A valid driver's license.
Preferred Education: High School Diploma or GED
Not required, but preferred: experience in a related field.

Pay is based on experience.
Shield Environmental Services does random drug testing.
