Role Overview

The Director, Clinical Operations will oversee a unified team of advanced therapy-focused care coordination, financial clearance, and quality professionals servicing our flagship partner, New-York Presbyterian ("NYP"). This will include the expansion of these functions within existing NYP advanced therapy programs and the integration of de novo services within new therapeutic areas. The leader will cultivate a high performing team, establish and oversee care coordination and patient support workflows, and ensure excellence in patient care delivery. This position will focus exclusively on the NYP program for the foreseeable future, but the candidate will work closely with the Shields leadership team and serve an instrumental role in establishing a replicable service model outside health systems and patients will benefit from. Reports to Sr. Director, Operations.

Core Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of care coordination, financial clearance, and quality professionals deployed across all NYP disease programs supporting advanced therapies
  • Drive team expansion through strategic recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training initiatives
  • Foster a collaborative, patient-centric culture that enhances care delivery and operations
  • Partner with Shields leadership to define clear roles, responsibilities, and performance metrics for future staff

Workflow Development, Integration, and Oversight :

  • Collaborate with Shields leadership and staff to develop and implement streamlined systems for managing key functions, including :
  • Patient identification, financial clearance, enrollment, and care coordination

  • Patient and caregiver support, as well as quality management
  • Data collection, tracking standards, and reporting tools
  • Oversee the integration of care coordination, financial clearance, and quality management services across disease programs, including Sickle Cell, Beta Thalassemia, Hemophilia, SMA, DMD, and Inherited Retinal Disorders
  • Engage with manufacturers during onboarding to integrate products and establish workflows for ongoing operational management
  • Ensure accurate, organized, and consistent data tracking throughout the patient journey to support quality and data management initiatives.
  • Program & Company Growth :

  • Serve as a clinical and educational resource for nursing staff, medical teams, management, and external vendors on advanced therapy patient management
  • Support program and business unit expansion within and beyond NYP, including opportunities to travel for program implementation at other health systems
  • Participate in national task forces with clinical operations leaders to share best practices and drive continuous improvement across the network
  • Credentials & Requirements

  • Registered Nurse preferred, but not required
  • 5 years oncology and / or advanced therapies experience
  • Previous management or leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Compensation

    The base salary for this role is anticipated to be between $175,000 and $200,000. Additionally, the role will include an annual bonus opportunity.
