Summary:
Shared responsibility for the set up and operation of mechanical power presses in the production of quality stampings. Monitors stamping process and maintains accurate charts to ensure product conforms to customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensures and applies proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Promotes a safe work environment.
- Active part of LCCS/Lean Activities to include 5S. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the work area.
- Monitors press operation, visually inspects parts, reads and adheres to quality sections and maintains charts to ensure conformance to customer requirements. Completed the required production and quality documentation. Including proper tagging, daily reports, set up sheets and time reports.
- Makes proper settings for die, press, straightener, feeder and makes adjustments as necessary to include determining optimal location for conveyors and method of part / scrap removal.
- Assists in die set ups. Loads the coil into the feed line. Properly adjusts lubrication to the die and / or strip as well as troubleshoots production problems and works with other team members to correct and improve the process.
- Coordinates activities of personnel at the press as well as coordinating container flow, scrap segregation and removal.
- Use gages to ensure parts meet quality requirements. Use micrometers, calipers and other basic measuring equipment
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. However, the Press Technician will be delegating the work of Press Assemblers.
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and support of all safety programs
Operate all presses with the transfer systems and / or progressive dies.
Able to set up a job in the press, including setting the die and necessary equipment, and first piece approvals
Must have good oral and written communication skills
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
Additional Competencies
- Knowledge of multiple presses progressive and transfer lines
- Flexible schedule to work all shifts, as needed
Physical Demands

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
