Medical Assistant- Back Office Job Description
General Description
We are seeking to hire a seasoned and reliable medical assistant to perform various front office and back-office functions at a growing family practice medical office in Victorville. If you are dedicated and detail oriented, our local family practice has a place for you to work with a collaborative, patient centered team that has been recognized as “best of the desert” and serving the High Desert since 2005.
Our medical assistants work directly with providers and patients during intake, scribing, and discharge duties relating exceptional patient care. This is a great opportunity for someone who cares for people and is attentive to detail.

Essential Job Functions
1. Receive and direct phone calls, schedule appointments, check-in patients, obtain necessary patient information to file and update patient records, and ensure all forms and consents are completed by patients.
2. Check-out patients, assist with referral processing, and arrange laboratory services.
3. Prepare patients for examination, take vitals, and record patients' health history
4. Set-up EKG machines, administer injections and medications, and perform routine specimen collection and tests.
5. Prepare equipment and examination rooms, and clean instruments.
6. Assist physicians with medical treatments, procedures, and exams.
7. Manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms with appropriate supplies.
Medical Assistant Qualifications / Skills
1. Excellent interpersonal skills.
2. Ability to always communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner.
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
4. Must be detail-oriented and highly organized.
5. Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies.
6. Preferred Knowledge with Allscripts and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
7. Knowledge of public health practices, medical terminology, and immunizations.
8. Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures.
9. Excellent attendance record. Punctuality is a must.
10. Must be able to always maintain confidentiality and HIPAA.
Education / Other Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of an accredited medical assistance certification program required.
- Spanish Required
