Roles & Responsibilities
Customer Interaction:
- Warmly greet each customer with an engaging icebreaker.
- Explain product features and highlight the soothing rainbow experience.
- Emphasize the handmade, free-formed nature of each suncatcher—perfect for gifts!
- Ask qualifying questions to guide customers to the best product for them.
- Assist with product options and explain the waitlist system for custom orders.
- Efficiently handle multiple customers at the same time, ensuring each is acknowledged within a reasonable timeframe. Politely balance interactions so no one feels neglected.
- Promote and sell suncatcher accessories, including suction cups and tabletop hook stands, for customers who want more display options beyond the included string.
Sales Process:
- Manage the entire sales process from start to finish.
- Encourage Google reviews and inform customers about the 5% discount for immediate reviews.
- If a customer is undecided, confidently ask for the sale and guide their decision.
- Process transactions using the Square Register POS system.
- Ensure each suncatcher includes a pre-made sticker pack.
- Determine and provide the appropriate packaging (tissue paper or plastic sleeves).
Store Maintenance:
- Open and close the kiosk.
- Keep displays clean, stocked, and organized for an inviting shopping experience.
- Manage special orders and maintain the waiting list for custom suncatchers.
- Utilize downtime efficiently by assembling sticker packs in between customers.
- Identify and implement process improvements when necessary to improve efficiency. Approved suggestions will be rewarded.
Work Conditions & Policies
Outdoor Work:
- Shade is available but expect to work in extreme heat during peak season (April – September).
Attire:
- Preferred: Light-colored, breathable fabrics like cotton or linen. Shade hats with drawstrings provided. Full sun protection required.
- Alternative: Sunscreen is mandatory if appropriate attire is unavailable.
- Maintain a business casual dress code (no swimwear).
Cold Weather Work:
- Work is available in the off-season (October – March). Sun protection is still required.
Weather Closures:
- The kiosk will close during severe weather. The owner will determine when work resumes.
Policies:
- Customer Service Etiquette: Use “my pleasure” instead of “you’re welcome.”
- Cell Phone Use: Cell phone use is strictly prohibited during work hours. It should only be used in extreme emergencies and must be completely out of sight at all times. Visible phone use is grounds for termination.
- Focus on Work: Stay engaged in work-related tasks and avoid distractions.
- Smoking/Vaping: Only permitted in designated areas.
Prohibited Activities
Do not solicit customers from other stores.
Do not discuss the following topics with customers, staff or other vendors:
- Total sales or sales numbers.
- Store operating procedures or policies.
- Compensation structure.
