Shimmick is seeking a higly talented Field Engineer to be based out of Los Angeles, CA. This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity while improving the infrastructure of the city.

Shimmick takes on challenging projects and performs high-quality work ranging from expanding/constructing water and wastewater treatment plants to construction of the new Gerald Desmond Bridge.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Under general supervision, performs routine duties.
- Displays knowledge and abilities to evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to meet basic engineering and construction specifications.
- Displays applications of sound professional judgment on details of work.
- Independently performs walk-downs and inspections of installed commodities to assure conformance with specifications and design.
- Performs quantity surveys for tracking and reporting.
- May provide technical direction to drafters, technicians, and surveyors.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Heavy Civil construction and field experience.
- AutoCAD 3D drafting/modeling experience
- Ability to interpret and pass on the requirements for concrete placing, reinforcement installation, and form work fabrication and setting.
- Ability to independently interpret contract documents, design drawings and specifications.
- Experience in scheduling, sequencing, procurement, material take offs, inventories, and cost estimates
