What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Engineer position at Shin-Etsu Silicones of America?

- Perform risk assessment and evaluate on a risk scale processes using PFMEA, PHA, FTA or any appropriate analysis method.
- Complete product readiness evaluation. Evaluate products from Technical department and determine if the product can be made with current machines and equipment.
- Assess current processes to establish a baseline, document and interpret parameters.
- Document and report results of new product launches to management.
- Make recommendations to improve new products, processes, and/or parameters.
- Work with the EHS department to create new equipment work instructions. This can include LOTO processes, equipment operations, etc.
- Work with the customer to develop, configure, and optimize production processes from inception through certification.
- Work with the maintenance department to design, run, test, and upgrade systems and processes. This includes the collection and entry of data.
- Develop best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output.
- Preform process simulations for new processes and product lines. This may begin on a lab size scale and move to a production scale.
- Take calls as needed to assist Production personnel with process related issues during off hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering required.
- 0-3 year’s related experience in a working or classroom environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Familiarity with chemical process control systems (DCS or PLC) preferred.
- Familiarity with Process Safety Management preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate (verbal and written) effectively.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Willing and able to take calls during off hours.
