Job Overview
This position has two main duties: that of a Records Technician and that of a Sterilization Technician. The role of Records Technician is critical in an orthodontic setting to obtain high quality x-rays and photographic images of patients and their dentition. The orthodontist uses these records to diagnose and treatment plan orthodontic cases. The role of Sterilization Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety in healthcare settings. This position involves the preparation, sterilization, and management of medical instruments and equipment to ensure they are safe for use. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of aseptic techniques, anatomy, and medical terminology, along with excellent inventory management skills.
Duties
- Obtain panoramic x-rays and cephalometric x-rays for new patients, patients who are in pre-treatment observation, and who have completed orthodontic treatment.
- Obtain extra-oral and intra-oral photographs for new patients, patients who are in pre-treatment observation, and who have completed orthodontic treatment.
- Prepare and sterilize orthodontic instruments following established protocols.
- Implement aseptic techniques during the handling of sterile items to prevent contamination.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on sterilization equipment.
- Adhere to safety regulations and infection control policies at all times.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of sterile processing procedures and practices.
- Strong inventory management skills to track supplies effectively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not mandatory.
