What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Department Coordinator position at Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians?
POSITION SUMMARY
The Education Department Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Director of Youth Education Program in the design, direction, planning, development, maintenance and evaluation of the youth interns and youth council. Education Department Coordinator is to assist with our Youth Development programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for the supervision of the Youth Interns and Youth Council.
- Assist with the oversight of the programs within the Education department including but not limited to: Higher Education Program and Youth Leadership Program
- Assists with and monitoring of succession planning and evaluations of Interns.
- Use case management techniques and methods to assist Interns with all programs within the Education department.
- Partners with Human Resources team to ensure that new Intern receive a comprehensive New Hire orientation.
- Assists with the design and facilitation of workshops, meetings, and summer program as needed.
- Assists with facilitating programs on a variety of topics through classroom training courses, web-based seminars, informational meetings, written instruction, on-line courses, and one-on-one coaching.
- Assists in the planning, preparation and execution of leadership conferences, management meetings and other special events.
- Updates training materials on a regular basis to ensure that content is current and adequate to meet internal and/external organizational changes.
- Assists with creatively designing, implementing, and searching for effective training methods to educate, enhance and recognize performance.
- Assists the Education department with ordering necessary supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license.
- Continued pursuit of higher education is required on a yearly basis.
NATIVE PREFERENCE
Preference in hiring is given to either the most qualified applicant or a Native American candidate who meets the minimum qualifications. When two (2) or more Native American candidates have comparable qualifications, the following order of preference shall apply: (1) Members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (2) Spouses or domestic partners (certified through Tribal Court) of members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (3) Parents of children of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (4) All other documented Native Americans; (5) All other applicants in accordance with Title 25, U.S. Code, Section 472 and 473. Applicants claiming Native preference must submit verification of Indian eligibility.
