What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper position at Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians?
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the Direct supervision of the Lead Grounds Keeper and the indirect supervision of the Landscaping and Grounds Keeping Director, the Grounds Keeper is responsible for maintaining the grounds on and around the Rancheria property, including the planting and maintaining of plants and trees, upkeep of premises, weed eating and mowing. Working on various projects as assigned by the Lead Grounds Keeper.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Maintains all trash receptacles in outdoor public areas, ensuring the area is clean and free of litter.
2. Cleans outside public areas, sidewalks, and parking areas; picks up leaves and litter.
3. Trims and prunes tree branches.
4. Operates and maintains power lawn mower, sweepers, chainsaws, trimmers, scrubbers, power washers etc., ensuring the equipment is clean and in proper working condition.
5. Ensures all plant beds are free of weeds, dead flowers, etc.
6. Operates snow removal equipment, if necessary.
7. Maintains water features.
8. Applies fertilizers and chemicals as instructed.
9. Maintains and repairs irrigation systems.
10. Assists other departments when needed.
11. Adheres to Company, Departmental and safety policies and procedures and OSHA regulations.
12. Performs all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School diploma or GED required.
2. Grounds maintenance experience required.
3. Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed.
NATIVE PREFERENCE
Preference in hiring is given to either the most qualified applicant or a Native American candidate who meets the minimum qualifications. When two (2) or more Native American candidates have comparable qualifications, the following order of preference shall apply: (1) Members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (2) Spouses or domestic partners (certified through Tribal Court) of members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (3) Parents of children of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (4) All other documented Native Americans; (5) All other applicants in accordance with Title 25, U.S. Code, Section 472 and 473. Applicants claiming Native preference must submit verification of Indian eligibility.
