POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Healthcare Operations Director, the incumbent is responsible for the coordination and management of the Shingle Springs Health and Wellness Center’s health information department. Create, establish, promote, maintain and/or ensure the timeliness of clinic billing, RPMS data collection (including data entry), report generation, diagnosis/ procedures coding, and computer-generated reports. Such activities include, but are not limited to, performing and providing training to the staff, promoting teamwork and team effectiveness, supervision of the off-site billing department. The incumbent must maintain communication with the Healthcare Operations Director and shall work closely with professional and administrative staff including the contracted billing company, DT Trak, in pursuit of an effective program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Train staff working in medical records and provide direct supervision for Business Office Coordinator.
- Assists in maintaining a safe work environment for the office personnel, including compliance with OSHA, State and Federal regulations pertaining to Tribal clinics.
- Within the operation of the health clinic the incumbent must stay abreast of current technology with regard to all aspects of RPMS and/or office medical billing systems.
- Responsible for department orientation and training to all new employees including all job appropriate aspects of RPMS including EHR (electronic health record), Dentrix, and DT Trak.
- Oversee the development and completion of all aspects of the billing process done within the clinic. Maintains compliance with established standards and reporting requirements.
- Works in conjunction with fiscal and accounts receivable.
- Participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings, keeping the Executive Director and Healthcare Operations Director apprised of the current activities and situations within the management of the Billing office.
- Maintains objectives/goals in the area of coding, provider agreements and/or avenues of ensuring higher third-party reimbursements.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- AA Degree from an accredited college and/or equivalent training in Computer, Accounting, and/or Managerial field.
- Two (2) years of experience and/or training in the following areas:
- Medical Terminology
- CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, DSM, ADA
- Certification through AHIMA or AAPC
- Expanded knowledge of RPMS with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Must have completed Indian Health Service Clinical Applications Coordinator (CAC) training. Beginning and advanced.
- Knowledge of federal regulation, guidelines and standards regarding the maintenance and confidentiality of patient information.
- Ability to work and communicate with a wide variety of people and positions in field, local, State, Federal and private organizations within the health care profession.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to type 75 words per minute.
- Must possess and maintain a valid CA driver’s license.
- Post job offer: CPR/BLS certification, TB test, and annual flu shot (during flu season) are required as a condition of employment, unless a medical/religious accommodation request is provided. Hepatitis B Vaccine will be offered at no cost to employees, but it is not required.
NATIVE PREFERENCE
Preference in hiring is given to the most qualified applicant. However, when candidates for an open position are determined to be equally qualified, Native American candidates will have preference for hiring purposes. This means that if the qualifications of the best candidates are comparable, the Native American candidate is given preference. The following order of preference shall be adhered to when hiring: (1) Members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians members; (2) Spouses or domestic partners (certified through Tribal Court or the State of California) of members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; 3) Parents of children of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; 4) All other documented Native Americans; 5) All other applicants in accordance with Title 25, U.S. Code, Section 472 and 473. Applicants claiming Indian preference must submit verification of Indian eligibility.
Salary : $101,500 - $128,000
