Part Time Summer Camp Assistant Guide
Position Description
The Part Time Summer Camp Assistant Guide in the Children's House classroom at SMMS is primarily responsible for supporting and partnering with the Lead Guide in developing and implementing the daily Montessori program that will promote the children’s physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth. This listing is for a part time position of 20 hours per week for the 8-week Summer Camp program from June 9-August 8. Please note that the program is closed the week of June 30-July 4. There is a potential to continue this Assistant Guide role into the 2025-26 school year.
Primary Duties
Management/Operations
- Monitors and supervises the activities of the students.
- Ensures a physically safe environment.
- Participates in circle time/class meetings.
- Respectfully implements classroom management
- Performs administrative tasks (making copies, taking attendance, record keeping, etc.) as requested.
- Assists with/oversee clean-up at the end of the work cycles.
- Cleans, stocks, and prepares the outdoor and indoor environment before and after school (in addition to the children’s cleaning). Takes a proactive role in the upkeep of common areas and shares responsibility with lead guide for general daily classroom cleaning and upkeep (including sweeping up, keeping the materials and shelves clean and well-maintained, ensuring the restroom is sanitary and stocked with supplies, and tables, sinks, and counter tops are wiped clean as needed throughout the day).
- Participates in staff meetings and training as required.
- Assumes responsibility for continued professional growth in the areas of Early Childhood Development and/ or Montessori methods and principles.
- Complies with all personnel policies in the Staff Handbook.
Communication
- Demonstrates professional and courteous communication with all SMMS staff members, families, students, and our community.
- Collaborates and communicates openly with the entire staff to ensure the quality of the school program and the achievement of our mission.
- Establishing clear lines of communication following SMMS protocol when reporting incidents to a Lead Guide or Administration (such as when a conflict arises in the classroom or playground, injury, illness, etc). Directs parent/family inquiries in question to the Lead Guide or School Director.
- Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding children, parents, families, and other employees in accordance with state and federal laws.

Hiring and Accountability
This position reports to the SMMS Lead Guide and School Director.
Compensation
Hourly position ranges between $20-$22 per hour depending on experience.
