Maintenance Electrical Technician
Reports to:
Instrumentation and Electrical Supervisor
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates and performs repairs of electrical systems throughout the plant.
Meets daily with production, engineering, and management personnel to review work orders for electrical repairs.
Assist operations with LOTO.
Inspects operating areas for electrical and non-electrical hazards.
Ability to troubleshoot AC/DC circuits, lighting circuits, 5kV controls, motor controls, protective relays, and substation operations.
Assist engineering with installation types, designs, equipment, and regulations.
Ensure conformance with environmental and safety requirements corresponding with executing required electrical maintenance or replacement activities.
Maintain, update, report, and document electrical department records and resources.
Plan and quote materials for jobs, shutdowns, projects, and MOC.
Schedule and coordinate with vendors.
Continuously improve by staying knowledgeable and educated in current safety and technical practices.
Manage contractors on projects by defining targets, specifications, and installations.
Performs other duties as required.
Education and Experience:
Required
High School diploma/GED equivalent.
Two to three years experience in the electrical field.
Preferred
Technical degree or equivalent experience and background in the electrical field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Microsoft Office applications required.
Well-developed interpersonal, oral communication, and writing skills.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
High degree of attention to detail.
Flexible, adaptable, and organized; can handle numerous tasks simultaneously without losing focus; ability to properly prioritize work.
Self-motivated, able to perform with minimal supervision.
Detail minded and delivers quality work products.
Ability to work with other departments, as well as independently.
Understanding of basic electrical safety and basic tool use.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• Regularly required to push, pull, bend, and perform long periods of standing and walking on cement foundations.
• Occasionally required to stoop and kneel.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to coordinate the movement of eyes, hands, feet, and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
• Required to be medically certified for respirator and medically fit for duty.
• Use of PPE required in specific areas.
