The Shippensburg University Head Start Program is seeking a Home Visitor. Starting hourly wage $17.40 depending on credentials and experience. Year round position, 37.5-40 hours per week with holidays (11) and vacation PTO (30). Program offers Life Insurance and Short Term Disability. Employees can purchase Dental, Vision, and additional Life Insurance at a group rate. Program qualifies for PSLF for student loans.
The Home Visitor is responsible for providing weekly in-home instruction using the current curriculum as well as bi-monthly group socialization experience to parents and children (ages 3-5) which will enhance the parents' ability to fill the role of primary nurturer of their child. Home Visitors have a case load of 10 families. Home Visitors maintain on-going contact with families and work with all other components (health, nutrition, family services, mental health, disabilities services, parent education and resource/referral) to integrate services into the family setting. Home Visitors must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to coach and engage parents at home and ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment during socializations. The Home Visitor must be skilled in communicating with adults in order to meet the needs of the children. Must meet requirements per Federal Head Start Performance Standards and any local, state and/or agency policies and procedures.
The position requires a minimum of a high school diploma with knowledge and experience in child development, and willingness to obtain a Home Visitor CDA credential within one year of hire, Act 34 and Act 151 Child Abuse and FBI Clearances, valid Driver’s License as well as proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
