What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Coordinator, Academic Success Program position at Shippensburg University?
Shippensburg University’s Department of Academic Engagement and Exploratory Studies seeks a Program Coordinator for the Academic Success Program. The Academic Success Program Coordinator is a full-time, up to a three-year faculty appointment in the Department of Academic Engagement and Exploratory Studies contingent upon continued grant funding. The Program Coordinator works closely with department faculty to provide program leadership and planning in addition to support services to conditionally admitted, at-risk students who enroll in the university though the Academic Success Program. Teaching assignments may include nights and/or weekends. In addition, faculty members are expected to perform other duties as assigned in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement. This nine-month, non-tenure track faculty position (with expectation of summer employment with additional compensation) is within the School of Academic Programs and Services beginning August 2025.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must possess a doctorate in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or related field. Program management as well as teaching experience in content related developmental and transitional courses, and a minimum of 5 years of higher education experience working with entry-level college students is required. The candidate must possess effective communication skills (oral and written) and evidence of a commitment to understanding the learning and developmental needs of diverse populations. Furthermore, the Program Coordinator must be a dynamic, student-centered, innovative leader and educator who is willing and able to build relationships within the campus community in support of program students while possessing experience in program planning and administration.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience and knowledge of student development, learning theory, developmental psychology and academic support services in higher education, working effectively with students who may be struggling in their transition to college, including achieving satisfactory academic progress, and working with Exploratory (Undeclared/Undecided) students is preferred.
