What are the responsibilities and job description for the Internship- Industrial Process Design position at Shive-Hattery?
Shive-Hattery's Cedar Rapids office has an opportunity for a Industrial Process Design Summer Intern. As an intern, you will work on real client projects, mentored by all levels of our Process Design group staff. Our group works on a wide variety of project types focused on industrial facilities in the region. You will learn how to read a process and instrumentation diagram (P&ID), create detailed 3D models of industrial equipment, understand how various types of piping systems work and how to lay them out, and create construction drawings.
Because we are a full-service firm, you have the unique opportunity to collaborate with other in-house architecture and engineering disciplines. Over the course of the internship you will gain a better understanding of how several disciplines and trades come together to deliver a full project, as well as expose and familiarize yourself to many different forms of technology that are coming to the workplace.
These experiences will help you understand the career progression of process industrial designers and grow your technical skills. From these real-world interactions, you will develop the skills to communicate and collaborate with peers and clients while building your professional network.
Requirements- Student in a CAD/Mechanical Engineering Technology or similar program
- Able to collaborate with other team members and have good interpersonal skills
- Effective oral and written communication
- Curiosity and motivation to learn through both mentorship and self-study
