Shive-Hattery's Cedar Rapids office has an opportunity for a Structural Engineering Summer Intern. As an intern, you will be paired with a mid-to-senior level employee who will serve as your mentor. This mentor / mentee relationship is designed to foster a supportive environment where you can candidly discuss your career goals and aspirations. Our one-on-one informal mentoring approach fosters the development of professional relationships that complement your academic learning, enriching your overall internship experience.
Our group works on a wide variety of project and material types related to industrial, healthcare, education, government, and commercial buildings. Because we are a full-service firm, you have the unique opportunity to collaborate with other in-house architecture and engineering disciplines. You will also learn software commonly used by structural engineering consultants, so you can hit the ground running when you start your first full-time job.
These experiences will help you understand the career progression of structural engineers and grow your technical skills. From these real-world interactions, you will develop the skills to communicate and collaborate with peers and clients while building your professional network.
- Student in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited engineering school
- Able to collaborate with other team members and have good interpersonal skills
