Plant Manager Job Duties
The Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity.

· Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, organization, and direction of the shop and the shop employees. Responsible for optimum day-to-day operations to exceed KEPM and customers’ expectations. The Plant Manager is required to maintain, record, and track optimization goals as directed by the President. Responsibility to maintain/improve these goals falls to the plant manager. Goals, including quality issues, to be discussed and presented to the management team in monthly quality meetings.
- Most important responsibility for the Plant Manager is to further develop company growth and competitiveness through production efficiency, process improvement, quality, on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, employee relations etc.
- Plant Manager directs shop employees to maintain max efficiency and quality in the shop. Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives of KEPM. Provide a clear sense of direction and focus for the Programming Manager and shop employees.
- Find ways to increase production, assets capacity, and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.
- Responsible for the whiteboard / scheduling. Office manager will assist with follow-up on jobs and maintaining on time delivery.
- Inform the Director of Operations and President when important shop issues/problems arise. If necessary, schedule meetings to discuss and problem solve shop issues and quality issues that may impact quality or on-time delivery that can’t wait for weekly/monthly meetings.
- Report to the office manager when necessary, with quality issues or engineering design problems presented by the programming manager or shop employees. Escalate to Dir. Of Operations if not receiving a timely response. Office manager will now handle most inquiries from customers. This includes part status and late delivery due to quality issues.
- Assist the programming department with dimensions or questions when necessary.
- May be required to visit customers and or vendors when needed to create new business relationships.
- Assist in the quoting process when necessary. Especially production quotes.
- Oversee quality department – responsible for quality of all parts and making sure all quality processes (KEPM or Customer Requirements) are being followed and maintained in records (Quality Manager responsibility).
- Responsible for creation of PPAP, Control Plans, and any other quality documents required by KEPM or its customers (Quality Manager responsibility).
- Monitor operations and complete corrective actions triggered by the shop employees (Quality Manager responsibility)
- Responsible for all quality audits. Dir of Operations will assist as necessary.
- Collect and analyze data to find places of wasted time or wasted overtime that are not currently being tracked. Responsible for the shop scheduling. Inform Dir. Of Operations and President on scheduling changes including changing overtime needs for employee’s schedules.
- Commit to plant safety procedures and manage the KEPM safety program. Implement new safety policies as necessary.
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets. Office manager may assist.
- Address shop employees’ issues or grievances. Escalate to Dir of Operations as necessary.
- Reports to the President and Director of Operations.
