Position Overview:
Medical Assistants play a vital role in our clinic, working closely with providers to ensure efficient patient care. This position involves direct patient interaction, clinical procedures, exam room preparation, and medical record management.
Key Responsibilities: Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure their comfort.
- Obtain and update patient health histories per office protocols.
- Take x-rays as prescribed by providers (in compliance with state regulations).
- Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures.
- Communicate professionally and clearly with patients and medical staff.
- Document treatment notes and ensure accuracy in patient records.
- Provide patient education and post-visit instructions.
Exam Room & Equipment Management
- Set up and maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked exam rooms.
- Follow OSHA protocols for sterilization and infection control.
- Sterilize medical instruments and maintain proper documentation.
- Ensure exam room equipment is functional and properly maintained.
Medical Records & Compliance
- Securely handle patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Accurately record patient histories and maintain up-to-date records.
- Assist with referrals, medical orders, and patient follow-ups.
Inventory & Office Support
- Monitor medical supply inventory and report needs to the Office Manager.
- Assist with general office tasks as needed, including phone calls and scheduling.
- Actively participate in team meetings and promote a supportive work environment.
Qualifications: Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical assisting certification or relevant experience preferred.
- Familiarity with EHR systems (NextGen Office preferred), Microsoft Teams, and Availity.
- Compliance with state medical practice requirements (e.g., x-ray certification, OSHA training).
