The Company has manufacturing facilities in Tennessee & Alabama, with sales personnel in Spain and Australia servicing Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Asia-Pacific.
Shoals sells their solar products principally to engineering, procurement, and construction firms that build solar energy projects. The custom nature of their system solutions and the engineered-to-order development cycle for solar projects typically gives Shoals a 12 month lead time to quote, engineer, produce, and ship each order, so there is no need to stock large amounts of finished goods.
SUMMARY:
The Quality Director is responsible forproviding leadership and coordination of the company's quality organization. Develop and implement the organizations quality strategy as well as monitor and analyze key customers, product, and process quality metrics.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Candidate should be able to effectively lead team who is responsible for:
- Assuring quality products and processes by establishing and enforcing quality standards regarding testing and qualifying materials and products.
- Establishing quality and reliability standards by studying product and consumer requirements with other members of management and with production operators, technicians, and engineers.
- Developing raw material standards by studying manufacturing and engineering requirements, conferring and negotiating with suppliers, and devising testing methods and procedures.
- Implementing in-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods and devising testing methods and procedures.
- Establishing standards for the disposition of finished product by devising evaluation tests, methods, and procedures.
- Instituting rework standards by devising inspection and physical testing methods and procedures.
- Creating product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
- Driving Continuous Improvement in terms of robust and effective use of Design FMEA and Process FMEA, Control Plans and other core processes.
- Deploying Process Capability studies to drive continuous improvement to improve Right First Time and reduce customer field quality issues.
- Maintaining product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements.
- Collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs and manufacturing and training methods.
- Preparing product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Candidate will also be responsible for:
- Developing quality assurance staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Managing quality assurance staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
- Ensuring quality by planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Achieving financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
- Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Leading ISO 9001:2015 Certification and necessary preparation.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Quality Management or related field is required.
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Director of Quality within a manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 5 years of hands on Six Sigma experience within a manufacturing environment is required
- Minimum of 5 years experience working within an ISO certified environment
- Experience implementing an ISO 9001:2015 system preferred.
- Knowledge of safety requirements and legal standards
- Working knowledge of quality system requirements
- Experience with MS Word, Excel, Project Management and Analytics software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent project management skills
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES PREFERRED:
- Certification in Six Sigma, SPC and ISO 9001:2015 is preferred.
- Preferred Certification in ASQ as a Certified Quality Manager or Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Reliability Engineer.
