What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreational Technician position at Shodair Children's Hospital?
Description
Under the clinical supervision of a CTRS, this position coordinates and plans structured activities for children.
- Handles large groups designed to develop teamwork, confidence, and problem solving through the interests and abilities of the children utilizing sports, games, crafts or other activities
- Reports directly to the Allied Therapies Manager or Unit Manager in the absence of an Allied Therapies Manager.
- Demonstrates interpersonal skills to effectively and professionally deal with children, parents and professional staff in a psychiatric setting.
- Exhibits good physical condition and possesses a general knowledge of expressive arts & crafts, recreational games, sports and outdoor skills.
Requirements
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Prior directly related experience or a degree in recreation or mental health field strongly preferred.
Must obtain shallow water lifeguard certification and attend Youth Mental Health First Aid and CPI training during probationary period.
