Job Overview:
The Facilities Laborer will be primarily responsible for completing a facility construction project involving the hanging and securing of new purlins from the building’s ceiling. The estimated timeline for this project is 4 months, with the potential to transition into a full-time operations support role upon its completion.
This is an on-site hourly position requiring a daily presence at our Cle Elum, Washington facility. While core production hours on campus are between 6:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, this role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. Schedules can be adjusted within and beyond core hours to support timely project completion while minimizing disruption to production staff.
Sign-On Bonus: $1,000 ($300 after 30 days, $300 after 90 days, $400 after completion of project)
Key Responsibilities:
- Lift, hang, and secure large metal pieces from the ceiling.
- Prepare the existing ceiling for the installation of new purlins.
- Disconnect, move, and secure various pieces of equipment throughout the facility.
- Load and unload various construction materials.
- Maintain a clean work area, including tools, equipment, and materials.
- Perform occasional custodial and janitorial tasks (e.g., lifting heavy items, moving equipment).
- Coordinate with operations management to schedule areas for overhead work.
- Perform preventive maintenance and service on tools and equipment used during the project.
- Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and maintain work areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
- Collaborate with site leadership to address any issues or modifications required.
- Adhere to all safety standards, including following procedures and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Preferred Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years’ combined experience in construction, manufacturing, or a technical environment.
- Experience working with materials such as wood, steel, or aluminum is preferred.
- Proficiency with tools and equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, drills, saws, clamps, grinders, and tape measures.
Skills/Competencies:
- Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong communication skills.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, occasionally stressful environment.
- Must be able to: Operate a forklift and mobile elevating work platforms (e.g., scissor lifts); Work comfortably at heights up to 30 feet; Frequently lift items weighing over 70 lbs.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a manufacturing environment and is required to wear the appropriate PPE (hearing protection, eye protection, gloves, etc.). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and lift different materials while operating a mobile elevating work platform. The employee is also regularly required to use hands and fingers, climb, and reach from waist level to above the shoulders.
The employee must be able to push, pull, lift, and/or move up to 80 pounds properly to prevent injury to yourself and others without damaging material/product. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Shoemaker Manufacturing has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position.
The starting pay for this position is: $25.00, per hour
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the CSWI Board of Directors.
