POSITION SUMMARY :
Effectively lead optometric services for Shopko Optical locations on executing operational activities to positively impact both doctor operations and business results. Lead staffing and recruiting of optometrists for Shopko Optical locations. Lead strategic direction and day-to-day operations of all Shopko Optical Doctors of Optometry. Drive consistent implementation of company-wide policies and procedures, identified best practices, and training and development strategies. Seek out and embrace new and improved technology to support optometric services, enhance the patient experience and deliver business results.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
STRATEGIC DIRECTION
Provide oversight and in-office coaching to optometrists regarding efficient operations in areas of exam management, appointment book operations and best practices, strategic priorities like telehealth implementation, equipment management, training and development, and related marketing
Partner with regional / market lead to deliver KPIs related to exams, patient satisfaction, conversion, and efficiency metrics
Lead selected initiatives to achieve target ROI and drive acceptance and implementation of new technologies with doctors
Engage effectively with recruiting team to support the hiring process and placement of qualified optometrists. Support recruiting team in maintaining relationships with optometry schools
Support innovative growth and quality solutions that will maintain and improve patient satisfaction through partnerships with optometrists, field leadership teams and stores
Work with merchandising team to support new product launches related to optometric practice
Provide guidance on recommendations for competitive professional fee schedules
Support acquisition strategy by fostering communication with optometrists who are associated with potential acquisition targets
OPERATIONS DEVELOPMENT
Provide in-office coaching to optometrists to achieve exam revenue, profit, and patient service objectives covering both existing operations and sustained growth
Develop and implement playbooks, action plans and policies and procedures to meet Shopko Optical objectives
Guide pertinent optometric practice communication to Regional / Market Managers
Lead best in class on-boarding process for new doctors
LEADERSHIP & FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Maintain knowledge of and effectively communicate legislation affecting the optical industry
Stay current on optical trends and competitive landscape
Lead discussion with Regional / Market Managers to address doctor coverage gaps, financial metric exceptions and implement action plans
Represent Shopko Optical in discussions with external partners
Partner with support functions to include Managed Care Contract, Credentialing, and Revenue Cycle
Doctor of Optometry degree required, master’s degree desired
3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in multi-unit retail optical environment or doctor operations services
Able to work cross-functionally in a matrixed organization with excellent attention to detail and follow through
Demonstrated desire and capacity to learn the business
Solid interpersonal relationship skills to interact with doctors and the Shopko Optical leadership team and investors
Experience in process development and improvement, as well as independent management of initiatives and / or projects
Able to analyze and solve issues of varied scope : able to act decisively to implement solutions
Solid negotiation skills
Solid organizational and planning skills
Able to analyze financial data, recognize opportunities for improvement and formulate plans to address
Able to provide clear vision of business objectives and goals
Solid computer knowledge to include Microsoft Office Suite of programs
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS :
Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization through written and two-way verbal communication
Able to read and write at a high school graduate level
Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Able to operate various office equipment (e.g., personal computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.)
Able to work normal and / or extended (evenings, nights, and weekends) office hours to meet established deadlines
Able to travel independently to support Company objectives and personal development
