JOB SUMMARY:
The primary function of the Shop Technician is to inspect, diagnosis and repair of customers lift trucks and various material handling equipment. Conduct overall inspection to verify the truck is up to safety standards and perform maintenance, repair, replacement and troubleshooting as well as other duties required per management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Read and understand electrical and hydraulic system schematics
- Inspect the forklift and/or issues that were reported
- Repair or replace major system components, including circuit boards and other electrical parts, hydraulic, mechanical, L.P. systems, power steering, transmissions and engines with limited supervision.
- Perform engine tune-ups on equipment without supervision
- Perform proper PMs in a timely manner
- Troubleshoot and diagnose most complex electrical systems on IC and electric trucks
- Be able to use all special tools properly.
- Follows all safety procedures in performing work as well as company policies
- Verify the equipment is up to safety standards
- Properly identify and order all necessary replacement parts
- Use overhead crane when needed, following safety guidelines
- Perform other duties as required per management
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years experience working on material handling equipment or heavy industrial equipment
- Auto, truck or military repairs experience will be considered
- Tech school graduate preferred
- Must have mechanic tools
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
The physical demands and working conditions requirement indicated below are examples of the demands that must be performed in carrying out the essential job functions.
Physical Demands:
Sitting, standing, and walking (up to continuously); frequent use of computer and telephone requiring repetitive finger, hand, and arm movement; occasionally carry office supplies and other miscellaneous items up to 50 pounds. Continuous use of seeing, hearing, verbal communication.
Working Conditions: Work indoors and outdoors; exposure to temperatures commensurate with outdoor seasonal temperatures.
