The Director of Technology at Shore Educational Collaborative is responsible for overseeing all aspects of technology to support the organization's mission of providing high-quality services to students and adults with disabilities. This includes managing the IT infrastructure, coordinating an external IT support contract for help desk and infrastructure services, and supervising an in-house team of two IT support staff. The IT Director ensures that all technology systems, including assistive technologies, are reliable, accessible, and secure to meet the needs of students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and implement a technology strategy aligned with the organization's educational goals and accessibility needs.
  • Ensure compliance with data security, privacy regulations (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA), and accessibility standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware, software, and assistive technologies to enhance program delivery and operational efficiency.

IT Support & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee and coordinate the organization's IT support contract, ensuring high-quality help desk and infrastructure services.
  • Manage and maintain networks, servers, software, and cloud-based systems to ensure reliability and security.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide escalation support when needed.
  • Team Supervision & Vendor Coordination

  • Supervise two IT support staff, providing guidance, training, and professional development.
  • Act as the primary liaison with external IT vendors, ensuring service-level agreements are met.
  • Work with program leadership to develop IT budgets and ensure cost-effective technology solutions.
  • Work with the contractor and Data & Software Specialist to coordinate and maximize e-rate reimbursement.
  • Assistive Technology & Accessibility Support

  • Support the integration of assistive technology tools and devices for students with disabilities.
  • Ensure that all IT systems meet accessibility requirements and provide equitable access to technology resources.
  • Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in IT management, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.
  • Experience managing IT support contracts and working with third-party vendors.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, security, cloud computing, and education technology.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and accessibility best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with educators, administrators, and support staff.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an education or social services environment.
  • IT certifications (e.g., ITIL, Microsoft, Google Workspace, Cisco, or CompTIA).
