Salary Range : $67,820 to $77,156 per 172-day annual contract, dependent upon education / experience

This position qualifies for $6,933 / year in high demand supplemental salary in addition to the annual contract amount above.

Join the Business Department at Shoreline Community College and contribute to the development of students' understanding of fundamental business principles. This role involves fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills, preparing students for diverse roles in various business structures. Beyond teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will engage in advising students, evaluating current instructional methods, creating programs and curricula, and actively participating in Shoreline's governance, departmental activities, divisional initiatives, campus-related professional events, and industry-focused advisory meetings. Additionally, this position is expected to support and advise (along with other unit faculty) for the Shoreline Community College chapter of DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America). NOTE : An on-campus presence is required for this position.

The selected candidate will be tasked with instructing college-level courses, aligning with the selected applicant's prior experiences and academic training. Courses in this unit include areas of business intelligence, data analytics, purchasing & supply chain, marketing, and business administration, catering to 100-level and 200-level transfer and professional-technical students.

    Required Education and Experience

  • Master of Business / Business Administration or a related discipline to the potential teaching assignments listed above from an accredited institution
  • Three years' experience teaching in a higher education environment or conducting training & professional development related to Business Administration OR three years' experience in an industry related to Business Administration
  • Experience with both online and in-person teaching, including the development of online coursework and proficiency in utilizing emerging technology
  • Knowledge of

  • Various instructional delivery modes such as in-person, hybrid, Hyflex, and online both synchronous and asynchronous
  • Microsoft Office programs, learning management systems and other appropriate instructional technology (ex. ctcLink, Canvas, Starfish, etc.)
  • Field-based learning, internships, and fostering student engagement on campus outside of the classroom.
  • Knowledge of various business industries, including general business practices, entrepreneurship, project management, supply chain management, and operations.

  • Actively fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and responsiveness
  • Imparting excitement and enthusiasm into the instruction of business courses
  • Effective oral / written communication with individuals at all levels inside and outside the College

  • Conditions of Employment

    Physical Work Environment :

    The College is currently in mixed (both in-person and online) operations, with the option of some assignments to be completed in an online environment based on program or area needs. If authorized by the College for remote (online) instruction, faculty will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. For on-campus in-person instruction, work is usually performed in a classroom / office space that requires standing and / or sitting for extended periods of time. Faculty typically use computers and media equipment in the work environment.

    Term Of Employment / Salary :

    This is a full-time, tenure-track position, with a 172-day annual academic year contract beginning September 18, 2025. Salary placement is determined by the number of qualifying years of teaching / work experience combined with level of related completed degrees / certifications / licenses. Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.

    PART-TIME FACULTY POSITIONS

    A part time faculty member becomes eligible for benefits at the beginning of the second consecutive quarter of half time or more employment at one or more Washington state institutions of higher education. Spring and fall quarters are considered consecutive quarters for benefits eligibility. Half time is determined based on each institution's definition of full time.

    A part time faculty member must qualify each quarter they teach to maintain eligibility. Once eligible, part time faculty will be notified of their benefit and retirement options.
