$16,218 - $20,575 / quarter base depending on experience & education
(Per quarter salary calculation: Base multiplied by class load %, ex.: $20,575 base * 50% teaching load = approx. $10,287.50)

The Shoreline Community College Chemistry department offers a rigorous sequence of courses for students interested in professional/technical degrees, and for science and non-science transfer majors. This includes a one quarter introductory chemistry for non-majors, two-quarter introductory general/organic/biochemistry (GOB) sequence, three-quarter general inorganic chemistry sequence, three-quarter organic chemistry sequence, and a two-quarter biochemistry sequence. The instrumentation in our teaching labs include UV-vis spectrophotometers, FTIRs, GCs, GC-MS, Vernier Data Acquisition, and a 60MHz NMR.
The successful faculty member should have the ability and experience to teach any of our chemistry courses/labs, be familiar with the use of instrumentation in teaching labs and have some experience/desire in green chemistry. A portion of the teaching assignment may be in the evening and include hybrid or online modalities.

The College is currently in mixed (both in-person and online) operations, with the option for some assignments to be completed in an online environment based on program or area needs. For remote (online) instruction, faculty will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. For on-campus in-person instruction, work is usually performed in a classroom/lab that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Faculty typically use computers and media equipment in the work environment.

- General Inorganic Chemistry
- Introductory Organic Chemistry
- Organic Chemistry
- Master's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or closely related discipline with an emphasis in Chemistry
- Experience teaching in a higher education environment
Knowledge of:
- Microsoft Office programs, learning management systems, and other appropriate instructional technology
- Effective oral/written communication with individuals at all levels inside and outside the College
- Developing/modifying curriculum both collaboratively and independently
Skill in:
- Imparting excitement and enthusiasm into teaching Chemistry
- Teaching and developing coursework online, or willingness to learn
- Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and responsiveness
- Adapting to a variety of teaching situations with students from diverse backgrounds/abilities
- Working and interacting effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators and others of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Terms of Employment & Salary:
- This is a part-time, non-tenured, quarter-to-quarter assignment.
- Salary placement is determined by the number of qualifying years of teaching/work experience combined with educational preparation.
