$16,218 - $20,575 / quarter base depending on experience & education
(Per quarter salary calculation: Base multiplied by class load %, ex.: $20,575 base * 50% teaching load = approx. $10,287.50)

Instructors teach pre-college and college-level courses to transfer students and professional-technical students. They also contribute to the department's efforts to improve student retention and success.Required Education & Experience:

The College is currently in mixed (both in-person and online instruction) operations, with the option for some assignments to completed in an online environment based on program or area needs. For remote (online) instruction, faculty will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. For on-campus in-person instruction, work is usually performed in a classroom/office space that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Faculty typically use computers and media equipment in the work environment.
Terms of Employment/Salary:
This is a part-time, non-tenured, quarter-to-quarter assignment. Salary is dependent upon the number of contact hours for this assignment as provided in the agreement with the Shoreline Community College Federation of Teachers. Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.

- Masters in English, Composition Studies, Rhetoric, Literature, or Creative Writing
- Experience teaching English and composition at college or pre-college level
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs, learning management systems, and other appropriate instructional technology
Knowledge of:
- Principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) as they apply to teaching, student support, and curriculum development
- English and Composition pedagogies for a wide range of student preparedness
Skill in:
- Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and responsiveness
- Imparting excitement and enthusiasm into the instruction of English and composition at the pre-college and/or college level
- Experience with teaching, developing coursework online, and ability to use emerging technology
- Effective oral/written communication with individuals at all levels inside and outside the College
- Adapting to a variety of teaching situations with students from diverse backgrounds/abilities
- Developing/modifying curriculum both collaboratively and independently
- Working and interacting effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators, and others of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
- Connecting students to campus resources and support systems as appropriate
- Effective classroom management, including facilitating/navigating challenging conversations
