What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Assistant position at Shoreline Diagnostics?
We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Assistant to join the growing Shoreline Diagnostics team! The ideal candidate will be versed in a lab enviornment and bea able to step in and perform routine lab inventory, documenting, data entry, accession, and help organize our lab. Below is a list of many responsibilities;
- Follow established procedures for obtaining and processing biological specimens for analysis in the laboratory
- Accessioning samples following lab standard operating procedures
- Learn operating and maintenance procedures for automated analytical equipments as assigned by the laboratory director and in accordance with established protocol
- Order and maintain inventory of consumables and reagents for use in the laboratory and receiving shipments labeling and storing appropriately
- Develop the ability to recognize factors and instrumental behavior that affects analytical measurements and results and takes appropriate action in accordance with established protocols
-Recognize equipment malfunctions and failures and take proper action
- Perform periodic maintenance on laboratory equipment (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, or as needed
- Fills all paperwork specially for daily records of temperature and humidity logs
- Assure that vendor preventive maintenance is done in appropriate time and record and maintain such service
- Help in organizing and receiving delivery of specimens and reagents for the laboratory
- Follow appropriate safety practices in the laboratory at all times
- Maintains patient privacy in accordance with HIPPA
- Step in and help out where needed in the lab or office
- Breakdown boxes, take trash out, and organize lab area utilizing proper safety practices and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment when and where applicable
Experience
- Proficient in typing, maintaining charts, measuring, labeling, and organization
- Experience in lab setting and or healthcare operations
- Personable demeanor
- Experience with scheduling maintenance and prioritizing
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures and patient care protocols
- Familiarity with lab consumables and reagents
- Strong communication skills
- Other duties as needed within Shoreline Diagnostics
