Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterilization Technician (ST) to join our healthcare team. This role is a full-time, entry level position. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and sterile environment within our facility. This position involves the preparation, sterilization, and management of medical instruments and equipment, ensuring compliance with infection control standards. The Sterilization Technician will work closely with dental and medical staff to support patient care and safety. The ST must represent Shoreline in a professional way, since his/her presence in the sterilization and patient treatment areas is a reflection of SOFS.
Responsibilities
All shall be performed according to OSHA, DEA, HIPAA, and SOFS guidelines.
- Receive dirty instrument trays
- Break the trays down into an ultrasonic cleaner
- Remove the instruments from the ultrasonic cleaner and scrub them
- Wrap the instruments in a surgical pack and place them in autoclave sterilizer
- Monitor autoclave and keep track of daily log with a dental assistant
- Spore Testing
- Prepare surgical trays
- Keep the sterilization area neat and clean
- Make up post-op bags
- Label syringes used to administer IV medications
- Laundry
- Order office supplies under the direction of the Clinical Team Lead
- Help keep the operatories and all other work areas clean and stocked at all times
Requirements
- Required to take SPICE Certified Course and complete the certification
- Previous experience in a dental clinic or healthcare setting is preferred
- Understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques is essential.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to read and communicate clearly in English
- Must possess manual dexterity for safe handling of the dental instruments
- Must be able to stand for extended lengths of time
- Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds
- Applicants must be able to show proof of current Hepatitis B Vaccination or titer.
