POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Management Teacher is responsible for facilitating and ensuring students are able to effectively demonstrate knowledge of the following per Arizona CTE standards:

 

The Business Management instructional program prepares students to plan, organize, direct, and control the functions and processes of a firm or organization. Students who successfully complete the Business Management program’s coherent sequence of instruction will develop an in-depth understanding of the business and financial management practices needed for large and small enterprises. The Business Management program includes instruction in management theory, project management, human resources management and behavior, accounting and other quantitative methods, purchasing and logistics, organization and production, marketing, and business decision-making.

 

Throughout the Business Management instructional program, students learn and practice valuable real world skills using industry-standard office productivity software to manage business functions. The Business Management instructional program is designed to prepare students for postsecondary education and/or entry-level employment and/or to successfully earn the following industry validated credentials: Microsoft Office Specialist certification, QuickBooks Certified User certification, NAFTrack certification, and others. The Business Management instructional program is designed and delivered as a coherent sequence of school-based and work based supervised learning. Business Management students develop leadership, social, civic, and career skills through participation in the state recognized Career and Technical Student Organization FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America.)

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors/Master’s Degree – 18 Graduate level credit hours required to teach dual credit
  • Arizona Teaching Certificate
  • Appropriately Certified in CTE Business or able to obtain within first year
  • SEI Endorsement Required
  • AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Communicates learning goals to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language
  • Prepare and deliver instruction appropriate to the student population including curriculum that addresses learning styles, abilities, interests, behavior problems and students with special needs
  • Create lesson plans describing daily learning experiences correlated with approved curriculum and State and District standards
  • Required to sponsor FBLA
  • Manage & Oversee Cougar Store
  • Use available technology to enhance learning i.e. Beyond Textbooks
  • Use district and state assessment data to improve instruction and place students in appropriate instructional and intervention programs
  • Facilitate instruction based on current research-based best practices
  • Effectively implement Individual Education Plans (IEP’s)
  • Establish classroom routines to promote a positive environment conducive to effective instruction
  • Participate in team reviews concerning academic progress of low performing students
  • Document and resolve issues related to student behavior problems and attendance
  • Reflect on teaching and strive to improve professional competence
  • Assume legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school-sponsored activities
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Maintain accurate, complete, legible and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation
  • Participate in intervention process at sites
  • Participate in school-wide events, scheduled meetings and parent conferences
  • Participate in school and district initiatives
  • Assume individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal/supervisor and which may relate to committee work, student activities, student supervision or other planning and professional assignments
  • Meet any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the district or school site

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this classification typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, pushing, reaching, lifting, feeling, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Employees may be subject to travel, body fluids, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, workspace restrictions, and intense noise. Employees may be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.   

Salary : $51,106 - $70,606
