POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY:
Teaches music through the use of instruments. Must hold a valid state certificate. Work well with students, staff, parents, administration, and community. Must have musical, organizational, and recruiting skills—willing to spend out-of-school time supervising students in band/orchestra concerts and/or activities, including evenings. Must have the ability to develop leadership skills in students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Have the bands/orchestras perform in public performances each grading period.
- Work individually with students preparing solos for concerts and festivals.
- Organizing and rehearsing small ensembles for concerts and festivals.
- Help individual students prepare for All-Region and All-State auditions.
- Help students prepare their music when selected to Honor-Bands and Honor Festivals, as well as provide the necessary supervision.
- Organize and supervise fundraising activities as needed.
- Participate in organizing and directing the Fine Arts Department Musicals (every other year).
- Monitor student eligibility for interscholastic music events.
- Manage and maintain school-owned instruments and equipment.
- Supervise students at all band/orchestra activities and provide additional chaperones when needed.
