Assistant Produce Department Manager
Reports to: Store Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY
As an Assistant Produce Department Manager, you will help to manage daily operations and support the success of our produce department. This role involves assisting with inventory management, merchandising, and maintaining freshness standards while ensuring excellent customer service. You will work closely with the Produce Department Manager to oversee staff and optimize department performance. If you have experience in produce handling, an eye for quality, and a desire to grow in a leadership role, this position is for you!
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support daily operations
- Monitor product quality
- Assist with inventory and ordering
- Ensure food safety compliance
- Supervise and train staff
- Provide quality customer service
- Maintain cleanliness and organization
- Fill in for Produce Manager as needed
- Support pricing and promotions
- Perform all other duties as assigned

- Previous experience in a produce department, grocery store or food retail setting
- Basic knowledge of produce handling, storage and food safety guidelines
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain product quality standards
- Ability to assist with inventory, stocking and merchandising
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn department operations
- Basic computer skills
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is typically performed in normal grocery store produce department conditions with frequent exposure to coolers, misting systems and damp produce
- Requires the ability to multi-task
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule including a variety of shifts, days, evenings, nights, and weekends including overtime, as needed

- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
