What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Health and Safety Supervisor position at SHOWPLACE WOOD PRODUCTS INC?
We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Supervisor to lead workplace safety initiatives and ensure a healthy, compliant work environment. In this role, you will develop and implement safety and ergonomic programs designed to minimize risks, prevent workplace injuries, and promote a culture of safety. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, conducting audits, and providing guidance on best practices. Essential Functions:
- Inspect facilities to identify safety, health, and environmental risks
- Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections
- Coordinate and facilitate the company safety committee and conduct regular meetings to communicate safety hazards and violations
- Formulate general health and safety policies and procedures to be followed by company personnel in compliance with local, state and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
- Develop annual safety training for all employees required by law
- Develop health and safety procedures for all areas of the company
- Prepare and schedule training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics
- Monitor compliance with safety procedures
- Draft inspection reports to document inspection findings
- Ensure that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed
- Maintain records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required
- Analyze incident data to identify trends in injuries, accidents or other hazards
- Approve new equipment for safety and confirm labeling and markings are good before equipment is used on production floor. Further ensure that suitable training has been provided for associates to run such equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of safety rules and regulations set forth by local, state and federal laws. Must have strong leadership skills and ability to effectively enforce policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in written form. Ability to read and comprehend documents, simple instructions and product labels. Must be able to work and communicate with a diverse group of people and individuals.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision to complete assigned tasks in a professional and timely manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Knowledge of worker’s compensation.
- Proficient in computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Current and valid driver’s license
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Education/Experience Preferred:
- 10 Hour OSHA Certification
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
- A.S or B.S in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
- 1-3 years of experience in a Safety role, preferably in a manufacturing setting
