SHP (www.shp.com) is seeking an energetic, highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer interested in developing highly efficient and sustainable design solutions in a collaborative architectural environment. This position offers the opportunity to work on projects of varying scales and complexity and influence SHP’s vision of becoming a premier sustainable design firm. Building types primarily include Pre-K-12 education, higher education, recreational, civic and commercial/workplace facilities. A successful candidate should have the ability to serve in a leadership capacity through all phases of a project, from criteria development and conceptual design through technical documentation and construction.
The principal responsibilities of Senior Electrical Engineer include:
- Managing client and consultant relationships.
- Overseeing production work of the engineering team.
- Directing, inspiring, mentoring, coaching and developing the electrical engineering team.
- Establishing energy goals for project designs and long-term operation.
- Daylight modeling and analyses to optimize overall building design.
- Advanced lighting control systems design.
- Design of power, lighting, fire alarm, electrical service, security, and technology systems for various types of clients including educational, institutional, and commercial office facilities.
- Voltage drop and fault current analyses.
- Working with the engineering team to define and communicate sustainable design options for our project teams and clients including non-electrical opportunities.
- Development of the design criteria which defines system requirements.
- Development of conceptual design and preliminary design documents, including calculations related to sizing and selecting of these systems.
- Development of final design/construction/bid documents including specification, sequences of operation.
- Assist Practice Leader in oversight and management of electrical team.
- Supporting work in the field pertaining to facility assessments and energy audits.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
Desired Skills and Experience:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology is required.
· Minimum 6-10 years’ experience designing building electrical systems and managing design/production teams.
· PE license required with ability to become licensed in multiple states.
· Strong computer skills using Revit and/or BIM is desirable.
· Previous experience with an architecture or engineering firm preferred.
· Strong preference for candidates currently residing in the Cincinnati - Northern Kentucky Metropolitan or Columbus, Ohio area.
Compensation:
This is a full-time 40 hours/week position, with a full suite of benefits, including paid vacation; paid holidays; paid sick/mental health days; medical, dental, vision and life insurance; health savings account with company contribution; 401(k) with company contribution; performance bonus; and other ancillary benefits. Competitive salary commensurate with experience can be expected.
