Under administrative supervision, the Training & Development Coordinator designs, delivers, and evaluates training programs for library staff. This role develops curriculum, conducts new employee onboarding, and facilitates professional development initiatives. Responsibilities include coordinating training logistics, assessing learning needs, and maintaining training records.
REQUIREMENTS
Basic Qualification(s)
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Instructional Design, Adult Education, or a related field AND
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in employee training and development.
Preferred Qualification(s)
- ASTD, PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP certification;
Highly Desirable Qualification(s)
- Public library experience is highly desirable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop and deliver training in areas such as leadership, customer service, EDI, and library-specific skills.
- Manage employee learning plans, training records, and assessment tools.
- Organize and oversee the annual Staff Development Day and tuition reimbursement programs.
- Stay current with industry best practices in training and development.
- Serve as the organization's Ethics Training Liaison.
- Other: Performs other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of HR processes, employment laws, and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and applicant tracking systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This role requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, and operating office equipment. Employees must have hand-eye coordination and visual abilities, including close, distance, and peripheral vision. The position occasionally involves climbing, stooping, crouching, and lifting/carrying up to 50lbs. Employees frequently push/pull carts weighing up to 75lbs. PRESENT SCHEDULE
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m. (1-hour lunch)

STARTING DATE: Two (2) weeks after selection
SALARY: $28.71/hour benefits, with a 12% mandatory retirement deduction.

A criminal background check and a drug screening are part of the pre-hire process. The State of Louisiana Revised Statute 15:587.1.1 requires fingerprinting by local law enforcement and background checks by the Louisiana Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information and will be conducted on a yearly basis. A mandatory full day orientation is part of the new hire process; these orientations are on Tuesdays from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
