Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting ophthalmologists with patient care, performing diagnostic tests, and ensuring a smooth workflow within the clinic. This position requires a strong understanding of ophthalmology practices and excellent patient interaction skills.

Duties

  • Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic tests including visual acuity tests, tonometry, and ocular imaging.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient visit.
  • Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs and obtaining medical histories.
  • Ensure compliance with aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment.
  • Manage front desk responsibilities including scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries.
  • Provide education to patients regarding their eye health and treatment options.
  • Support geriatric patients with care tailored to their specific needs.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of physiology as it pertains to eye health.
  • Experience in patient care, with an emphasis on providing compassionate support.
  • Proficiency in aseptic technique to ensure safety during procedures.
  • Optical or Ophthalmic background is a plus; however, training is available for the right candidate.
  • Ability to navigate medical systems efficiently, including electronic health records.
  • Competence in maintaining accurate medical records and documentation standards.
  • Understanding of ophthalmology-specific procedures and terminology.
  • Capability to measure vital signs accurately and respond to patient needs.
  • Experience with front desk operations in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of medical coding practices related to ophthalmology is a plus.
  • Regular, consistent punctuality and attendance are imperative.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
