At Shrewsberry, you will be apart of a fun, dynamic team that does exceptional work for our customers. Responsibilities will include coordination and design of a variety of transportation projects, for the Washington State Department of Transportation, Sound Transit and other Local Public Agencies. This position oversees and is responsible for completing a variety of professional engineering assignments in one or more specialized areas of transportation planning, design, traffic operations, civil site development, and airports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare designs for roadway and civil projects including roadway, trail, sidewalk, erosion control, storm drainage systems (including natural drainage practices), water transmission systems, sewers, earthwork, ADA ramps, pavement overlays, traffic signal systems, illumination, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), channelization, signing, traffic control and maintenance of traffic.
- Review construction plans, design calculations, and specifications to ensure completeness, accuracy, or conformity to engineering standards or practices.
- Coordinate with clients, utility companies, or government agencies for project delivery.
- Preparation of project plans, specification, reports, quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
- Help to resolve design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, detailed design work, and detailed checking of design computations done by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project.
- Collaborate with other team members, professionals and disciplines across multiple offices.
- The ability to work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
- Train and help to mentor junior level staff.
- Prepare plans and roadway modeling using AutoCAD / Civil 3D and / or MicroStation / OpenRoads
- Perform project administrative duties including maintaining records and preparing reports and correspondence.
- Participate in business development activities
- Perform other duties as assigned

o Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), Standard Specifications for Roads, Bridge, and Municipal Construction
o WSDOT Design Manual and Standard Plans
o American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) design standards
o Federal Highway Administration Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
o Transportation Research Board Highway Capacity Manual (HCM)
o Federal Guidelines for ADA Design

This is a full-time position with a base salary that ranges between $85,000 - $100,000 per year. In addition to salary, you are eligible for equity and a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k, and PTO.
