Shrewsbury Public Schools is accepting applications for an Assistant Principal for Shrewsbury High School for the 2025-2026 school year.
The Shrewsbury High School community provides challenging, diverse learning opportunities, promotes creativity and independent thinking and empowers students to become capable, caring, and active contributors to the world in which they live.
The enrollment is generally 1800 students in grades 9-12. The high school leadership team includes the principal, four assistant principals and various department directors. Shrewsbury High School has a highly committed and dedicated faculty and staff.

The successful candidates will work collaboratively to provide school-wide leadership. Assistant principals share a number of responsibilities including leading or assisting with selection of faculty and staff; working with department directors and the school (guidance) department to develop student schedules; developing the master schedule; overseeing student support services; working with faculty and students on co-curricular activities; supervising and monitoring student attendance; actively involving parents in the educational process; supervising and monitoring student attendance; conducting teacher observations and evaluations; providing support for the NEASC accreditation process; assisting in maintaining a respectful environment throughout the school community; coordinating building facility needs; supporting curriculum and professional development programs and implementing student assessments. The assistant principal serves as a grade level administrator, interacting with students and parents at that specific grade. The assistant principal remains the grade level administrator for the four-year high school experience of the particular class supported.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree
Principal/Assistant Principal Licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education; will accept applicants who are currently working on their licensure
Demonstrated leadership at the high school level
Ability to work collaboratively with the entire high school community
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong technology skills
Ability to handle multiple areas of responsibility in a fast-paced environment
Availability to work evenings and weekends for student events
Demonstrate the core values of Shrewsbury Public Schools and Shrewsbury High School
Works flexibly in a changing school environment
Work Year/Compensation:
For the 2025-2026 school year high school assistant principals will work 215 days (184 school days plus additional days to be worked during school vacation weeks and/or summer). The current salary range is $119,209-$145,238 based on years of experience as an assistant principal. The position includes a full benefits package including health care insurance, sick and personal time, and tuition reimbursement. The position is eligible for membership in Unit B of the Shrewsbury Education Association (Assistant Principals and Athletic Director).
