Shrewsbury Public Schools is currently accepting applications for an English Language Education (ELE) Coordinator, a new leadership position designed to support our students and educators. This position is a full-time, district-wide, benefits-eligible position which includes responsibilities for program coordination and responsibilities as a teacher of English Language Education providing direct services to students. The Coordinator will report to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment and collaborate closely with the Director for English Language Education.

Successful candidates will have a passion for and interest in instructional leadership, including familiarity with coaching models, instructional rounds, and curriculum development, and have demonstrated experience in using data to align instruction and respond to student needs.
Responsibilities
•Works under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment and collaboratively with the Director of English Language Education to provide leadership and coordination of ELE programming and services
•Supervise and evaluate English language education teaching staff as assigned
•Provide direct teaching services to English language learners; this may include direct instruction, assessment, and screening
•Provide academic support to eligible students, including literacy and math intervention as needed
•Provide instructional coaching to teachers sheltering English in general education classes
•Responsible for onboarding new students in assigned grade span(s) (elementary, middle, and/or high school), including:
oLanguage screening (administer and score WIDA screener)
oPre-screen and interview Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE) students, when necessary
oWork with Shrewsbury High School registrar/counseling office to request and review transcripts/school records
oInitial welcome/compliance paperwork
oMeet with new families
•ACCESS testing (coordinating testing for all English Language learners by domain during instructional time, including working with the online test management software and collaborating with English Language Education educators and building leaders)
•Maintain student records and monitor student progress
•Review / Develop EL Success plans for underperforming students
•Collaborate with colleagues to effectively support Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE) students
•Serve as a member of the District Leadership Team, including attendance at monthly meetings

Preferred Qualifications:
•Master’s degree or beyond
•Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license as an ELE Teacher required, director license preferred.

Work Year/Compensation:
This position is governed by the Shrewsbury Education Association Unit A contract; per that contract, Curriculum Coordinators will work the 184-day teacher year plus 10 days to be scheduled with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. The 10 extra days will likely take place in the summer to include language screening for new students, meeting with appropriate team members to go over schedules for English-learning students, availability during the week before school starts, handling course recommendations and schedules for new students, District Leadership Team Summer Workshop, attendance at key school events at assigned level. Salary is placement on the teacher’s scale, plus a stipend of $8260-$12,663, based on years of experience in a supervisory role. The position includes a full benefits package including health care insurance, sick and personal time, and tuition reimbursement. The position is eligible for membership in Unit A of the Shrewsbury Education Association (same as teachers).
