Job Overview
The Director of Marketing & Communications directs all strategic marketing and communications initiatives tied to the Shriners Children’s strategic plan. Primary responsibilities include budgeting, earned media relations, writing, editing and posting digital (website and social media) and print content, internal and external communications, and coordinating omni-channel patient acquisition marketing campaign with the external agency. Communicates regularly with the Senior Regional Director of Marketing & Communications, West region MarCom team, hospital administrator, facility leadership and Board of Governors. Actively builds and maintains relationships with media outlets, community partners, non-profits, medical and business groups, and other stakeholders. Serves as facility spokesperson/PIO. Provides marketing and communications support to the Office of Philanthropy and Business Development. Maintains positive relations and open communication with members of the Shriners International fraternity in primary and secondary markets (Northern California, Southern Oregon, Western Nevada).
This position is full time, exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $96,760/year - $145,140/year. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.
Responsibilities
- Supervision and mentoring of MarCom Coordinator and Specialist
- Develop marketing and communication strategic plan, goals and messaging
- Sustain Shriners Children’s Northern California’s brand and reputation as a high-quality pediatric specialty care hospital
- Respond to media inquiries, coordinate interviews, write and issue compelling press releases, media advisories, statements and letters-to-the editor
- Provide strategic communications counsel to Shriners Children’s Northern California leadership team and Board of Governors
- Translate complex medical research and patient care topics into compelling and engaging storytelling opportunities
- Coordinate consumer-facing patient acquisition marketing campaign with external agency, ensuring messaging, service lines and creative align with hospital business objectives
- Collaborative communications with Shriners International fraternity chapters and other organizations within the Masonic family

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field
- 10 years of marketing, communications and public relations experience
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and strategic communication skills
- Demonstrated media relations experience (on-air, in-studio, live and recorded interviews)
- Familiarity with digital tools (MS 365 Apps/Teams, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Hootsuite, Canto digital asset management system, Content Workflow, Looker Studio, Kronos).
- Strategic mindset, highly organized thought leader with project management experience
- Collaborative and calm under pressure in crisis situations
- Ability to translate complex research and medical topics into compelling stories

Salary : $96,760 - $145,140
