Job Overview
Shriners Children’s is looking for a full-time Physician Assistant to join our team at Shriners Children’s Shreveport. This provider will support our Orthopedics team and provide care to pediatric patients in an exclusively outpatient setting. Schedule will be Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm with no nights, weekends, holidays, or call expectation. The pay range for this position is $43.91 to $65.85/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.
Responsibilities
- Attend general and specialty orthopedic outpatient clinics, coordinating surgeries, diagnostic studies, and following up with patients and families
- Obtain and document appropriate health histories and perform physical exams on orthopedic and rehabilitation patients
- Order appropriate treatment and/or diagnostic studies
- Make appropriate referrals as needed
- Educate patients/parents regarding identified health conditions and findings
- Communicate with community care providers regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow up requirements
Qualifications
- Master of Physician Assistant Studies or equivalent degree required
- NCCPA board certification required
- Active Louisiana Physician Assistant license required
- Active DEA license required
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred
- 3 years of experience as a Physician Assistant in pediatrics and/or orthopedics highly preferred. New graduates with rotations in pediatrics and/or orthopedics will also be considered
