Job Overview
Our Galveston, Texas team has an opening for a full-time Surgical Technologist. The surgical technologist (ST) is an integral part of the surgical health care team and functions in the role of scrub person. The ST works under the supervision of the registered nurse and surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
Responsibilities
- Anticipate, select, use and maintain equipment and supplies for surgical procedure
- Prepare and maintain sterile field throughout surgical procedure
- Follow established policies and procedures for sharps, sponge and instrument counts
- Assist in transportation, housekeeping and Sterile Processing as assigned
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma / GED
Certification/Licensure
Certified Surgical Technologist
CPR
Experience
Minimum 1 year experience with scrub and circulation skills
Prior experience with sterile technique, infection control, sterilization and disinfection procedures
