Job Overview Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a Clinical Coordinator to join our Outpatient Department. This position is Full Time, exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $24/hour - $34/hour. Compensation is determined by years of experience and departmental equity. Responsibilities The Clinical Coordinator provides direction and clinical support for our nursing staff to promote quality patient care and a safe work environment. -Oversight of day-today activities of the outpatient clinic. -Coordinates clinic support staffing schedule and daily clinic assignments. -Leads morning huddles with all clinic staff prior to the first patient arriving. Holds an afternoon huddle if needed. -Responsible for local telehealth program coordination and training, working with both system resources and partnering sites to ensure successful operations -Provide continuous training and communication to all clinic staff. -Review the quality of clinic support documentation and patient access registration elements. -Maintains clinic flow to best advantage of the patient, physicians and clinic staff. -Is available to clinic support staff to answer questions. -EPIC super user and workflow development -Provides input on clinic personnel performance appraisals and any disciplinary action needed. -Keeps practice manager informed of problems arising in the flow process and/or staff concerns. -Continuously update work knowledge by participating in education opportunities. -Ensure adequate staff levels to cover for absences and peaks in workflow. -Maintain and replenish clinic supplies and inventory, anticipate needed supplies. -Maintains a high level of interaction with patients and families to continually enhance/improve access to patient care. -Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives. Respond and act on recommendations to improve the patient experience at Shriners Children’s Hawaii. -Use discretion and professionalism when handling patient or physician complaints received. Respond appropriately to any identified concerns. -Participate in patient safety initiatives. Respond and act on safety recommendations. -Provides opportunities for clinic staff to share concerns and address patient issues -Competent completion of medical assistant responsibilities, including patient clinical care, preparing the patient, clinic preparation, documentation, and population-specific competency (see medical assistant job description for greater detail). -Performing other duties as assigned or requested willingly and promptly, and with a positive attitude. Reporting when the task is completed, as appropriate. Qualifications Education HS diploma/GED required. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Medical Assistant Certificate preferred. Experience 5 years of experience in a clinic setting preferred. 2 years of experience in orthopedics preferred. 2 years of experience in pediatrics preferred. 1 year of supervisory experience preferred. Certificate and Licensure EPIC experience BLS required PALS (for CMA) required within 12 months Additional Knowledge and Skills -Excellent organizational and communication skills -Critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work under minimal supervision. -Excellent computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. -Experience working in a clinic setting. -Ability to communicate effectively in a face-to-face setting with patients, families and other staff members.
